“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
I hope you have had a chance to listen to my new song, Bring You Glory. If not, click here and go get it! If you have any problems downloading it please email me and we’ll make sure you get a copy! I should add that it is best to download it to a laptop or personal computer. Some were having problems when they tried to download it through mobile devices.
I wrote that song because I often found myself praying, “God, let my life bring You glory; in all that I say, do and the things I think about. When people look at me I pray that they would see You.” I pray that same thing for you today.
Have you ever asked yourself, “does my life bring God glory?” I admit I’m certainly not perfect, sometimes I mess up and may do something or act in a way that does not bring God glory. I try not to dwell on it, but just accept the Lord’s grace and do better going forward. As Christians we’re called to live differently than the rest of the world. And I’ve always felt that when others get to know you they should see that there’s something different about you. Whether it be at your job, at school or wherever you spend your time. That’s exactly what Jesus was talking about in Matthew 5:16 when He said, “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
I love that verse. God deserves all of the glory that we can give Him. I like what the psalmist says in Psalm 68:19, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.” God is so good to us. He gives us so much, but what do we have to offer Him? Not that God needs anything from us, but He still desires our praise, worship and our best effort to live right before Him. We cannot earn salvation through our good works, but we can certainly give God glory and please our Heavenly Father through our good works and the righteous lives we live for Him daily.
Be encouraged today and let’s pray for one another that we get intentional about living our lives to bring God glory. Amen.
